NFL Picks

There have been a lot of great tight ends over the years in the NFL, but few can match the Kansas City Chiefs perinial Pro Bowler Tony Gonzalez.

The guy can just do anything on the gridiron! Making key blocks, protecting his quarterback and his specialty, scoring touchdowns with amazing catches.

The NFL has had its share of good tight ends coming into the league as of late with players like Antonio Gates with the San Diego Chargers and Kellen Winslow from the Cleveland Browns, but Gonzalez has been able to consistently outshine them all despite talk of his decline.

The amazing part about Gonzalez is not only his hall of fame like numbers throughout his career, but being able to be a hall of fame candidate at tight end without ever really having a good quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs one of those teams in the NFL that can never keep a good, consistent quarterback. Yes, they had Joe Montana for a few years and Trent Green wasn't all that bad, but no longevity at the position which has kept Gonzalez from winning the only award he has left to strive for in a Lombardi trophy.

Last season there was quite a bit of talk about Gonzalez demanding a trade and they way the team has played over the last five years or so I really can't blame him. Well, the NFL trade deadline came and went and Gonzalez was still a Kansas City Chief despite the rumors of a trade that was guaranteed to happen.

Now that the season is over the rumors are flying around that Gonzalez is still dying to get out of Kansas City and play with a contender. The one team that keeps coming up is the Indianapolis Colts. The problem with that is that Dallas Clark is already there and one of Peyton Manning favorite targets.

I'm pretty sure that Gonzalez will be playing elsewhere next season, but the Colts will have to do some retooling to make that happen.
