Just like Michael Vick is expected to get suspended for one year, it looks like wide receiver Plaxico Burress might suffer the same fate and will have to sit out for a year as well.
Is the suspension justified? Yes and no.
In my opinion, you have to be an idiot to shoot yourself in the leg. I can understand trying to arm yourself being a celebrity and all the crazy ass people in New York, but if you are going to own a gun you need to know how to use the damn thing or else you will end up hurting someone including yourself.
So being reckless like that means you should be punished, but suspension for a year? I don't know about that.
Well, by now you know that the infamous dog killer and ex-Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has been released from prison to the confines of his house.
Even though Vick is most likely one of the most hated athletes of all-time next to OJ Simpson, he can still play football and is a hot commodity in the NFL.
Now will any team in the NFL accept him back? If so, it will be a short list of teams with the New England Patriots, who are like a rehab clinic of the NFL, right on the top of the list.
There would be no better place for Vick to return than with a limit role as a kick returner, third down back or wide receiver and or backup to Tom Brady than with the Patriots.
Will it happen? Remains to be seen, but if Vick wants a second chance in the NFL and a very good possibility to win a Super Bowl then this looks like his best bet.
Finally the Jay Cutler saga is over and done with in Denver.
It took awhile, but now it is final, the Denver Broncos have traded their franchise quarterback Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears in exchange for quarterback Kyle Orton and a couple of first round draft picks.
If you ask me, the Chicago Bears finally got the quarterback the have been looking for and the Denver Broncos will a mediocre team in the AFC West once again.
How do you go from Super Bowl contender one season to a joke the next?
Not saying that the Broncos were an elite team last season, but they definitely looked like they could be a contender for the rest of Cutler's career as long as they made some changes on defense. Instead the Broncos fired their legend head coach, bring in a first time head coach that is younger than some of the players and alienate the franchise quarterback that actually gave the Broncos some hope for the future in the post Elway era.
You can make up this kind of stuff!
Although we have heard that Jay Cutler might be headed to the Detroit Lions or possibly the Tampa Bay Bucs the one place that makes a lot more sense from the Denver Broncos stand point is sending the unhappy quarterback to the Cleveland Browns for either Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn.
Obviously the Broncos will want Quinn in return, but they may get stuck with Anderson instead.
The Detroit Lions is promising trade with the possibility of getting the number one pick which would be Georgia quarterback Matt Stafford, but the kid has no NFL experience and the Broncos would be in for another rookie grooming period.
Honestly, Matt Cassel was the best possibility in this whole scenario, but since Josh McDaniels dropped the ball on that one the Broncos will almost certainly get the short end of the stick here no matter what they do.
The best possible solution for the Broncos in my opinion is trying to make Cutler stay other wise they will starting all over again.
A huge trade rumor developed in Denver not that long ago about the Broncos superstar quarterback Jay Cutler. The rumor had Cutler going to the Tampa Bay Bucs in a three way deal bringing Matt Cassel to the Broncos.
Well, to put it lightly, this rumor threatened to rip the Broncos apart. Cutler was absolutely furious when he learned that he might be on his way out in favor of Cassel.
Jay Cutler has gotten it into his mind that he is basically John Elway reborn. There is no questioning his arm strength as he does have a cannon, but he hasn't exactly proved that he can lead the Broncos to the promiseland just yet.
The AFC West has got to be one of the worst, if not the worst division in the NFL right now. The Oakland Raiders are absolutely filled with drama and lead by a crazy owner. The Kansas City Chiefs haven't been good since Joe Montana retired and the San Diego Chargers are a franchise trying to regain their dominance.
The Broncos looked pretty damn impressive at times on offense last season, but the defense was literally no existent which resulted in Denver losing the AFC West title in the last game of the season ot the Chargers.
Is Cutler a good quarterback? Yes. Is he Hall of Fame caliber? Remains to be seen.
There have been a lot of great tight ends over the years in the NFL, but few can match the Kansas City Chiefs perinial Pro Bowler Tony Gonzalez.
The guy can just do anything on the gridiron! Making key blocks, protecting his quarterback and his specialty, scoring touchdowns with amazing catches.
The NFL has had its share of good tight ends coming into the league as of late with players like Antonio Gates with the San Diego Chargers and Kellen Winslow from the Cleveland Browns, but Gonzalez has been able to consistently outshine them all despite talk of his decline.
The amazing part about Gonzalez is not only his hall of fame like numbers throughout his career, but being able to be a hall of fame candidate at tight end without ever really having a good quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs one of those teams in the NFL that can never keep a good, consistent quarterback. Yes, they had Joe Montana for a few years and Trent Green wasn't all that bad, but no longevity at the position which has kept Gonzalez from winning the only award he has left to strive for in a Lombardi trophy.
Last season there was quite a bit of talk about Gonzalez demanding a trade and they way the team has played over the last five years or so I really can't blame him. Well, the NFL trade deadline came and went and Gonzalez was still a Kansas City Chief despite the rumors of a trade that was guaranteed to happen.
Now that the season is over the rumors are flying around that Gonzalez is still dying to get out of Kansas City and play with a contender. The one team that keeps coming up is the Indianapolis Colts. The problem with that is that Dallas Clark is already there and one of Peyton Manning favorite targets.
I'm pretty sure that Gonzalez will be playing elsewhere next season, but the Colts will have to do some retooling to make that happen.
NFL this week, I'm going with the Ravens, they are peeking now and Miami just beat the Jets who did not play well at all. I really thought the spread would be higher, take Ravens -3
This football bowl game between Navy and Wake is another good match. I think Wake will come out on top in this game, but it will be close to the end. This too could be a high scoring game. I just think Wake will win in the end and win by a FG or more. Take Wake -3
The NFL games are winding down for alot of teams, but Minn is still in the hunt for a run for the Division Champ along with Chicago. Minn seems to be playing better and peaking at the right time. They will win against Atlanta this game is a must win for Minn. They will come thru so go for it, take Minn -3
I predict that the Colts win, but not by 10.5 even though Jacksonville has been very suspect lately. They really should have done much better. Everyone was having them in high standings early in the season, just didn't pan out. Still I like the Jaguars +10.5
